With barely a couple weeks left in school, my mind still hasn't realized that I won't be attending Innisdale next year. I suspect I'll have that feeling right until Commencement, when I finally get my high school diploma.
I think this is partly because I fear not being able to see the people I've become such good friends with, but when we do transitions like Student Council Elections or letting RuiLin and Joanne run the meetings for next year, I realize that Innisdale's society is built upon the cycle of students, where traditions are passed down from seniors to juniors but at the end everyone is meant to pass on and continue their lives. The people I've met over my four years here will still be able to maintain contact; a benefit of growing up in the technological age.
So much changes in everyone's time here that it leaves a huge impact on you when you leave. For many people, they get their first job, begin driving lessons and getting licensed, set themselves on a career path and start cementing long-term friendships. All of these stages are key in building the rest of our lives.
While most of my favourite and boldest memories come from my time at Innisdale, its exciting to see what happens in the future. However, to people who still have time left here, make the most of it. You might complain about it or keep to yourself and that's okay if that's your thing. Coming from someone who used to be horribly introverted and nervous, getting yourself out there and joining clubs, talking to people, enjoying your free time and, of course, making sure your work gets done is easily the best way to spend your time here. Make the most of it and leave an impact on your school. You'd be surprised at how short your stay here is (unless you choose to come back a few years), and should enjoy it as much as you can.
