Spring Concert brought fresh talent after a long winter

|

On Thursday, May 20, Innisdale showcased a huge variety of musical talent from all different grades. The result was an amazing combination of instrumental, vocal, and a little bit of dance thrown in too. Overall, the night was one to be remembered, and shows that our music department is definitely top notch.

To start off the night we watched a combination of Mrs. Forder's Grade 9 Dance Class with Ms. Parnell's Grade 10 Vocal Class perform "Don't Stop Believin'". Next, Mr. Hathaway's Grade 10 Instrumental Class played two contrasting pieces. The Grade 10 Vocal class made another appearance with "The Song of the Sea" and "Seasons of Love". Continuing, we watched the Concert Choir sing five impressive songs, finishing with "Eye of the Tiger". Senior band took the stage next, and did a great job. Concluding the first half, Show Band performed "If I Ain't Got You" and "Respect". Both were magnificent and showed that Show Band is full of remarkable talent.

Junior Band then started the second half with "Declaration and Dance", "Amazing Grace", and the extremely well received "YMCA". All pieces were played with extreme precision and their performance was one of Junior Band's best yet. Sebastian Kuleschow, accompanied by Mr. Kuleschow, performed a violin solo that words cannot describe how amazing it was. The Grade 9 Instrumental class surprised everyone with the great improvement they've made. Vocal Ensemble sung the wonderful "Bridge Over Troubled Water". The Grade 11/12 Instrumental Class played three great songs. The night was ended with Show Band returning with "Game of Love" and "If You Could Read My Mind".

All pieces were performed extremely well and with huge amounts of talent. Innisdale is clearly home to a multitude of amazing singers, instrumentalists, and people who really enjoy music. Kindersley Brucker, a member of Junior Band and the Grade 9 Instrumental Class, says, "I thought it was very good and that the Music Executive did a fantastic job organizing it. There are several talented musicians and performers here at Innisdale!" Special thanks to Music Exec and all of the teachers who participated in organizing the Spring Concert and setting it up. Also, Erin Ross and Keith Capstick were the night's MC's, and they kept the show going beautifully with a few jokes even thrown in. Of course we haven't heard the one about the chicken, Erin! We look forward to seeing your future performances, Innisdale!
