Hey Invaders! We all know that there is now a law against talking on the phone or texting, or using any handheld electronic devices while driving, right? But what about those objects that are not electronic, but are rather sharp and pointy? I think that it is slightly more distracting to other drivers on the road when they see them cutting their hair while driving! True story. My mother and I were recently in Toronto, on a shopping spree. When we started to get hungry we stopped at a McDonalds for lunch. As we pulled into the parking lot we were blocked by another car going very slowly, but still moving. Confused as to why this car was being so slow, we decided to look at the driver and see what was distracting him. Upon seeing what had distracted the driver, my mother and I were flabbergasted: he was using scissors! This man was sitting in his car, about to leave the parking lot, cutting his hair! I was dumbfounded, confused and struck by an odd sense of hilarity. This had to have been the strangest thing I had ever seen. My mother was slightly ticked so she honked the horn, and after a rather rude glare from the man with the scissors, the car began to move a little faster and the scissors were put down.
Another recent incident has changed my opinion about police. Now even if there was no law against it in past, driving while using you phone is hazardous, right? And to my knowledge, the police are supposed to set good examples. I thought so until I was driving and saw a police officer driving around a corner while I was stopped at a red light. This isn't a strange thing for Barrie, what was strange was that the police officer was talking on his phone. Yes, that's right, he was on his cell phone while driving. Wow, what is this world coming to? You tell me.
