Change for Change

Can you spare some change for Pennies for Patients? If you have yet to donate some of your free change, you better hurry. Your change can be put into the small boxes that are in your period one classes. The Pennies for Patients boxes will be collected this Thursday.

Wondering where your money will go? The Pennies for Patients organization first started in 1994, with their first fundraising taking place in North Carolina in 1995. Over 10 million schools have participated in this fundraiser. The change collected goes to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, which started raising funds in 1954.

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is the world's largest voluntary health organization that provides money to blood cancer research, education, and services for blood cancer patients. The society has provided over $680 million to blood cancer research. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's mission is to "...cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families." The little amount of change in your pocket can make a significant difference in someone's life that has been affected by blood cancer.
