The Deadliest Warrior: Battle for Supremacy

|

Before the premier of the second season of Deadliest Warrior, viewers were given a treat of a battle royal of two duels depicting the strongest fighters of last season's winners, in an all out duel to the death. To make it even between the competitors the warriors were split into two groups: ancient warriors (pre-gun powder) and modern warriors (post-gun powder). For the ancient warriors the competitors were: the apache chief, William Wallace, the Spartan, and the samurai. For the modern warriors the competitors were: the mafia, pirates, Spetsnaz, and the IRA.

For the first match-up the analysis team shaved off the number of ancient warriors to two: the Spartan versus the samurai, two very heavily armoured warriors, with one using weapons made of bronze and the other weapons of steel. Some of the key weapons that the Spartan brought to the table were the famed Spartan shield and the Spartan spear. To counteract the Spartans defense and powerful offence, the samurai brought the incredible accuracy of the yumi bow for long distance attacks, as well as the incredibly sharp and fast naginata. Each side's weapons, though, were not able to penetrate each other's armour and the duel came down to whose defense would outlast the others.

After all was said and done, and the numbers were crunched, the Spartan reigned victorious in the fight, with his shield and spear combo taking most of the kills. It was a close match up, however, showing the deadly force of both warriors.

For the modern warriors the analysts put the Russian Spetsnaz up against the Irish Republican Army. It was an organized military superpower versus a paramilitary terrorist organization with a love for their country. The Russians brought many military guns to the battlefield firing off with such powerhouses as the saiga semi-automatic shotgun, the makarov pistol, and the surprising military innovation of the ballistic knife. The IRA shot back with the nail bomb, a blazing flamethrower, and the Webley revolver, among other weapons.

When placed into the simulator, it was all Spetsnaz as their sheer military strength, weapons, and training played the resulting factor in the battle.

Watch Deadliest Warrior on SpikeTV. Every week there is a brand new match-up of warriors to watch and see just who is deadliest.
