30 Hour Famine

|

On April 14 to the 15th, Innisdale will be participating in the 30 Hour Famine to raise funds and awareness for world hunger in association with World Vision. All participants get pledge sheets and collect donations/sponsors before the date of the famine.

World Vision's 30 Hour Famine is a worldwide movement of students who are serious about fighting world hunger, all on an empty stomach. For 30 hours, students will experience the hunger that billions of people around the world go through every day. Here are some World Vision facts to help motivate you to participate in the famine!

- Today, 25,000 kids under age 5 will die, most of them from preventable causes like hunger, poverty, and disease. That's one child every three seconds.

- More than 1 billion people in the world don't get enough to eat. That's one of every seven people on the planet.

- In the last 50 years, 400 million people worldwide have died from hunger and poor sanitation. That's three times the number of people killed in all wars fought in the entire 20th century.

After school on the 14th, there will be games/activities and a movie for the participants followed by a complimentary breakfast during period 1 on the 15th. Support World Vision's 30 Hour Famine, and talk to any Student Council member before the 14th if you'd like to participate!
