Warm March weather here to stay

|

It's about time.

After a long, cold winter (which, by the way, gave students no snow days), things have finally begun to warm up. This weekend, for the first time in months, we broke the freezing point. Finally. Instead of the unpleasant, perpetually-cloudy sky that has hung over Barrie, the skies were blue. It was sunny. It was warm enough that a jacket became unnecessary. Ice was melting! Snow was not falling (for once)! There was water in its liquid state; the pebble-and-sand mixture frozen within the snowbanks fell to the ground and replaced its former whiteness with a calming brown.

This week, it's going to rain. That's right. Rain. Sayonara, snow. Plus, since it's March, we've got only about ten days before we officially encounter spring. Until then, everyone gets to enjoy the pleasant, cool weather. (Not cold, but cool. It's not quite warm, either.) The same thing happened exactly one year ago today; it was all of eighteen degrees.

While it means that the Winter Games will be cancelled, it also means that we're one step closer to having lunch outside. Football and frisbee on the field! Warm, shorts-wearing summery days. Muggy, sweaty, sunburned weather is just a few more weeks away.

I can't wait.
