Holiday Assembly

|

With the end of 2009 came the Holiday Assembly, a spirited gathering leading way to holiday cheer. Included in the event were dances and songs by the school's various clubs and classes, including Smooth, If I Could Read Your Mind, and I Will Survive. The Christian Club also performed O Holy Night. Even the teachers presented a song. A few moments were also dedicated to the retirement/leave of some of our teachers, including Vice-Principal Mr. Stegenga, who made a heart-warming speech reminding us of all his generous contributions to the school and students. Mr. Stirtan's gag presentation was a special surprise which delighted and shocked the audience. Similar to a game show, the randomly chosen competitors were to pick up gift boxes laid out on a table in sequence and identify the objects hidden underneath as quickly as possible. However, halfway through, one of the boxes revealed the screaming face of Mr. Read! The reaction of one of the players, our principal, Ms. Stevens, was the most entertaining. The last component of the event included Don't Forget the Lyrics Christmas version with carols such as Frosty the Snowman. However, none of the singers seemed to be able to complete the lyrics. Ultimately, the Holiday Assembly was a great success and was thoroughly enjoyed by all who came.
