On Monday morning during second period, an intentionally-set small fire in a main floor washroom near the Student Council office set off the fire alarms, prompting staff and students to evacuate to the Allandale Recreation Centre. Students were kept in the centre while Barrie Fire Services quickly put out the fire and determined whether the school was safe for re-entry. An hour later, Innisdale principal Dawn Stephens informed everyone that buses were taking bus students home. At eleven o'clock, the buses arrived and students were allowed back into the school in small groups of five, escorted by a teacher, to fetch house keys and coats. Students then went home for the rest of the day and in the afternoon the Simcoe County District School Board announced that Innisdale would resume operations the next day.
